NVAFRIENDS is a website made by two Dutch brothers, Hans and Harm Kuijper.
We live in Zutphen and Warnsveld, in the east of the Netherlands.
From left to right: Hans Kuijper, Bill Sowerby and Harm Kuijper (webmaster)
It all started in 1996 when we went to Normandy for the first time. There we met the 76th Carlisle Branch of the Normandy Veterans Association (NVA) and a friendship developed.
We met the branch several times in Normandy and the UK and in 2000 we helped to organise the first “Holland Tour”
Harm took many photos and videos. In order to share these with others, he made a website and NVAFRIENDS was born.
While in Normandy we met other NVA Branches and went to other events like the commemorations in London, Oosterbeek, Wageningen, Holten and attended local commemorations with our Canadian Liberators.
This website was dedicated to all members of the Normandy Veterans Association and all who took part in the liberation of Holland.
We hope you enjoy the pictures and videos on the site. If you should be a veteran of the Normandy Campaign, or one of the Liberators of Holland, and willing to share your story or pictures with others, we would like to hear from you, because it is important that those who live in a free Europe know your story. Please send your stories or pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org
An official site of the Normandy Veterans Association doesn’t exist But NVAFRIENDS will gladly respond to your inquiries as best we can. And if we don’t have the answers, we will then forward your questions to those who may have them.
